SMAL Dynamics

What if, in the future, indoor maps could direct you to the people you seek rather than a room number? Using a distributed sensor network and Sociometric Badges from the Human Dynamics Group, we built real-time maps based on non-verbal social activity in physical space: movement, volume, gesturing, and whether people were standing face-to-face. A prototype was run over the Media Lab Sponsor Week event in Fall 2008.
